Neom delivers Eejeeya boat reflecting its innovation and sustainability
Saudi Arabia’s NEOM has added a new asset to its growing marine infrastructure with the delivery of Eejeeya, a hybrid all-aluminium workboat designed by French-operated ODC Marine and built in China. The vessel will serve multiple roles out of NEOM’s Red Sea marina, including providing services to luxury superyachts.
The 12-metre workboat reflects NEOM’s focus on innovation and
sustainability. According to ODC Marine, Eejeeya is engineered to
operate in challenging conditions while minimizing its environmental footprint.
The vessel’s design allows it to berth safely alongside superyachts without
causing damage—critical for high-end marina operations.
Compact Design, Versatile Capability
Despite its modest size, Eejeeya packs a multifunctional design. It
features hybrid propulsion, below-deck liquid cargo storage, and on-deck space
for solid cargo—supporting a combined capacity of up to five tonnes. Additional
onboard equipment includes a 300kg capstan, a 250kg jib crane, and a sheltered
seating area for passengers.

Arabia officially reveals Hidden Marina as part of The Line
Built for a duty cycle of 1,500 hours annually, the vessel’s propulsion
system includes two FPT diesel engines (each delivering 243kW), two 20kW
electric motors, and a 63kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. In electric
mode, Eejeeya can operate autonomously for up to three hours at 5.5
knots. Under diesel power, it can cruise at 12 knots and reach speeds of up to
18 knots.
ODC Marine noted that special attention was given to reducing acoustic
emissions in electric mode—achieving near-silent operation akin to that of a
sailboat.
Advanced Technology for High-Performance Operations
Eejeeya is equipped with a Simrad electronics suite that includes a
chartplotter, GPS-enabled VHF radio, and radar for enhanced situational
awareness. The vessel also debuts ODC Marine’s new twin-touchscreen monitoring
system, which consolidates controls and diagnostics for faster, more reliable
operation. This system is now the shipbuilder’s standard for hybrid and
electric vessels.
Passenger amenities include Flexiteek 2G synthetic teak benches and an
air-conditioned wheelhouse (10,000 BTU), which also serves as a heater. The
climate control system can run off the diesel alternators or the LFP battery,
ensuring comfort in both propulsion modes.

Arabia: Sindalah Marina wins 5-Gold Anchor Accreditation
Purpose-Built for Superyacht Support
Designed with yacht servicing in mind, Eejeeya features double
rubber fender lines and a specialized transom access system to facilitate safe
transfers. The elevated wheelhouse, located forward of the main cabin, offers
exceptional visibility, allowing precise manoeuvring around large vessels.
Soundproofing was a key consideration in the design process, according to
ODC Marine, which emphasized the balance between performance, comfort, and
space constraints.
Supporting NEOM’s Vision
The vessel’s development aligns with NEOM’s strict standards for service
quality, reliability, and environmental responsibility. “NEOM is an ambitious
and fast-moving initiative,” said ODC Marine, “and our experience with
high-duty-cycle vessels and innovative propulsion systems allowed us to deliver
a solution that meets its rigorous expectations.”
