Hidden Marina in Neom to redefine urban living
Saudi Arabia’s NEOM has officially
revealed Hidden Marina, the first phase of its ambitious megacity
project, THE LINE.
Hidden Marina will span 2.5 kilometers in length and rise 500 meters,
encompassing three interconnected modules designed to accommodate over 200,000
residents. The project will cover a built-up area of more than 21 million
square meters—vastly surpassing global landmarks like the Burj Khalifa, which
occupies only 350,000 square meters.
Denis Hickey, Chief Development
Officer of NEOM, announced the project at the PIF Private Sector Forum in
Riyadh, calling it "a bold step in redefining urban living." He
further described it as a fully integrated, vertical city built in modular
800-meter sections.
Hidden
Marina: A Groundbreaking Development
Hidden Marina, the first segment of THE LINE, will include more
than 80,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, commercial and retail spaces,
as well as crucial infrastructure like fire stations, schools, police stations,
and security services.

"We are laying the groundwork
for this ambitious urban revolution," said Hickey. "More than 140,000
workers are currently involved in the project’s construction, with over 5,000
dedicated to NEOM itself. This global effort features talent from over 100
countries, with 40% of the workforce being local Saudi talent."

Infrastructure
Investment
The emerging city has attracted over
$140 billion in infrastructure investments. This will ensure that critical
services like energy, water, transportation, data, and communications are fully
integrated.
NEOM’s investment framework is
driven by two primary vehicles: the NEOM Investment Fund, focusing on strategic
sector investments, and the NEOM Investment Office, facilitating real estate
partnerships.
Hickey also pointed out the ongoing
collaboration with the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, which is building the
world’s largest green hydrogen plant at Oxagon in partnership with ACWA Power.

“We’ve also formed strategic
alliances, including a joint venture with DSV to build a state-of-the-art
logistics network from the ground up and a partnership with Samsung to
revolutionize automated rebar production, enhancing safety and efficiency in
construction,” Hickey added.
A
Vision for Sustainable Infrastructure
NEOM recently signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with Data Vault to create a $5 billion, AI-powered green
energy data storage facility at Oxagon, reinforcing its commitment to
sustainable infrastructure.
“NEOM is more than just a city; it’s
an urban revolution designed to push the boundaries, redefine economies, and
set a new benchmark for future urban development,” Hickey concluded. "With
construction moving forward as planned, the vision of a fully integrated,
futuristic metropolis is rapidly becoming a reality."
