Saudi Arabia focusing on tourism as economic pillar under
Vision 2030
Saudi Arabia is ramping up efforts to make
tourism a major driver of its economy by 2030, according to a report by Asharq Al-Awsat. This initiative is a central
part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plan, spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed
bin Salman, which seeks to reduce the nation’s dependency on oil and diversify
its economic base.
The Kingdom has set an ambitious target of
attracting 100 million domestic and international visitors annually by 2030.
Key projects like the NEOM mega-city and the Red Sea Project are central to
this strategy, with the expectation that they will not only draw significant
tourist traffic but also drive massive investment.

Alongside these large-scale developments, Saudi
Arabia is implementing a series of social and infrastructural reforms to better
accommodate visitors. The introduction of a tourist visa system in 2019 marked
a turning point, allowing travelers from across the globe to explore the
Kingdom for the first time.
By expanding its tourism sector, Saudi Arabia aims to significantly boost its GDP and create millions of new jobs, all while laying the foundation for a vibrant, diversified economy by 2030.
