Saudi Red Sea Authority appoints new CEO to advance developing coastal sector
The Saudi Red
Sea Authority (SRSA) has appointed Dr. Maryam Ali
Ficociello as its new chief executive officer, effective March 22, 2026.
The authority said the appointment will advance its goal of developing Saudi Arabia’s coastal tourism sector while protecting marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable investment.

Dr. Ficociello brings over 20 years of
experience in governance, risk management, and compliance in both public and
private sectors. She previously served as group chief governance officer at Red
Sea Global, overseeing governance, risk, and sustainability initiatives.
An accomplished sailor and diver, she has
actively supported marine conservation and sustainable ocean practices. She has
contributed to national sustainability programs under the Saudi Green
Initiative and represented Saudi Arabia at international forums, including the
UN Climate Change and UN Ocean Conferences.
On her appointment, Dr. Ficociello said: “SRSA plays a critical role in building a world-class coastal tourism sector that is safe, well-governed, and investment-ready while safeguarding the Red Sea’s unique marine ecosystems. I look forward to working with government and industry partners to advance sustainable tourism and the blue economy.”

Red Sea Authority prepares human resources in luxury tourism
SRSA also thanked outgoing CEO Mohammad Al-Nasser for his four years of leadership, during which he helped establish the authority’s operating model and strengthened its regulatory framework to boost coastal tourism development.
