Saudi Arabia: Storyland Studios collaborates with Red Sea Global to design tourist destination
Storyland Studios has collaborated
with Red Sea Global to design Adrena,
a new integrated adventure destination along the Red Sea that blends extreme
sports, nature exploration, and immersive storytelling.
Inspired by the words adrenaline,
arena, and dream, Adrena is designed as a dynamic resort where
guests can enjoy thrilling activities, creative experiences, and opportunities
for relaxation while connecting with the surrounding environment.
A
Story-Driven Coastal Destination
Located on a 17-hectare stretch of
shallow coastal flats along the Red Sea, the project required careful planning
to protect the ecosystem while creating a distinctive resort experience.
Storyland Studios served as
landscape architect and experience designer, helping transform the concept into
a fully realized destination. The company worked on master planning, landscape
architecture, water features, pools, attraction design, and themed
environments—from initial concepts to detailed construction plans.

The aim was to create an immersive
environment that integrates storytelling with nature, ensuring that every
design element contributes to the guest journey.
A
Narrative Built Around Mind, Body, and Spirit
Working closely with Red Sea Global,
Storyland developed a narrative concept that positions Adrena as a sanctuary
shaped by the meeting of sea, land, and air. The resort is organized into three
themed realms:
- Mind – The Quest for Discovery:
The SEAdventure zone encourages exploration above and below the sea, allowing visitors to learn about marine life and test their limits through interactive activities. - Body – The Quest for Adrenaline:
The XCoast area offers high-energy activities such as surfing, skating, and outdoor adventure sports along the shoreline. - Spirit – The Quest for Calm:
The Red Sea Beach Club focuses on relaxation and reconnection with nature, providing tranquil spaces where guests can unwind.
Adventure
Attractions and Marine Exploration
At the heart of the destination is Saudi
Arabia’s largest wave pool, complemented by a wide range of land- and
water-based attractions. These include rope courses, zip lines, cliff jumping,
snorkeling trails, and deep-sea diving experiences.
The underwater attractions guide
guests through themed zones—The Shallows, The Reef, and The Deep—designed to
mirror the natural ecosystems of the Red Sea while introducing visitors to
marine exploration.
Design
Meets Technology
To coordinate the complex project,
Storyland translated the design into a comprehensive Building Information
Modeling (BIM) system. The 3D model included landscape elements, water systems,
utilities, and infrastructure, allowing teams to visualize the entire guest
experience before construction.
This approach improved collaboration
among designers, engineers, and contractors while helping refine operational
efficiency and sustainability.

Sustainability
at the Core
Environmental stewardship played a
key role in the development. The project incorporates several sustainable
design features, including:
- Dark-sky compliant lighting to preserve natural night
skies
- Wildlife-sensitive illumination to reduce ecological
disruption
- Low-impact stormwater management systems
- Water conservation and reuse strategies
- Opportunities for renewable energy integration
Through its combination of
storytelling, adventure experiences, and ecological awareness, Adrena aims to
offer a new type of destination along the Red Sea—one that immerses visitors in
nature while delivering a diverse range of recreational and cultural
experiences.
