Saudi Arabia: Canadian firm supplies
a suite of water attractions for Adrena
A Canada-based aquatic attractions
manufacturer has delivered the centrepiece surf lagoon for a major sports and
entertainment destination in Saudi Arabia.
Headquartered in Richmond, British
Columbia, WhiteWater supplied a
suite of water attractions for ADRENA, an adventure-focused district within The
Red Sea developed by Red Sea Global.
The highlight of the project is a programmable surf lagoon created by
WhiteWater’s wave technology division, Endless Surf.
The surf system operates using
pneumatic wave-generation technology combined with software-driven controls
that allow operators to adjust wave height, shape, angle and timing. This
flexibility enables the lagoon to produce a variety of wave types tailored to
different skill levels and programming requirements.

Designed to offer an authentic ocean
experience, the lagoon uses seawater drawn directly from the Red Sea through a
closed-loop filtration and circulation process. Water is pumped in, treated and
circulated within the lagoon before being returned to the sea, a method the
company says preserves water quality while maintaining natural salinity.
ADRENA features more than 20 land-
and water-based attractions, including a wakeboarding lake, a stationary wave
feature and snorkelling trails. Several of these aquatic elements were
delivered as part of an integrated package by WhiteWater.
The development forms part of a
wider global rollout of surf lagoon projects, with additional installations
planned in Brazil, the United States, Mexico and other locations across Saudi
Arabia. ADRENA officially opened to the public on March 1.
