Diriyah Company has awarded a $1.13 billion (SAR 4.225 billion) construction contract to a joint venture between China Railway Construction Corporation Saudi Branch and China Railway Construction Group Central Plain Construction Co. The project involves the relocation of King Saud University’s (KSU) utilities and administrative offices. In addition to this core task, the contract includes construction of a district cooling plant, water storage systems, a sewage treatment facility, an LPG/SNG plant, diesel transfer pumping stations, a utility tunnel, irrigation water tanks, and supporting infrastructure such as office buildings, warehouses, and maintenance workshops.

Strategic Infrastructure for a National Vision

Part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 initiative, Diriyah is a flagship urban development project backed by the Public Investment Fund. Once completed, it will span 14 square kilometers and accommodate nearly 100,000 residents. The project also aims to become a regional hub for professionals in technology, media, education, and the arts—creating an estimated 178,000 jobs and attracting up to 50 million annual visitors.

“This contract is a significant step forward in our strategic partnership with King Saud University, whose campus neighbors the Diriyah development,” said Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Company. “We are proud to support the advancement of both educational and infrastructural excellence in the Kingdom.”
