Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power to exclusively sell green hydrogen
Saudi Arabia has granted ACWA Power exclusive government approval
to export green hydrogen and its derivatives produced within the Kingdom,
marking a significant milestone in the country's strategy to establish itself
as a global leader in clean energy exports. The mandate also authorizes the
company to develop projects for the production, transmission, and export of
renewable electricity to European and Arab markets.
The approval strengthens Saudi
Arabia's efforts to diversify its economy under Vision 2030 by leveraging its
abundant renewable energy resources to meet growing global demand for
low-carbon fuels. The export rights cover green hydrogen and its derivatives,
including green ammonia, green methanol, and other sustainable fuels.

Arabia’s ACWA Power to invest $30 billion in China by 2030
Samir J. Serhan, Chief Executive
Officer of ACWA Power, said the government mandate reflects confidence in the
company's ability to deliver large-scale strategic infrastructure projects. He
noted that green hydrogen and renewable electricity exports represent the next
phase of Saudi Arabia's energy leadership, creating new opportunities for
economic growth while contributing to global energy security and the transition
to cleaner energy sources.
The mandate builds on ACWA Power's
expanding renewable energy portfolio, which spans power generation, water
desalination, and green hydrogen projects. A key component of this strategy is
the NEOM Green Hydrogen project, a joint venture between ACWA Power, NEOM, and
Air Products. The project, currently nearing completion, is expected to
integrate up to 4 GW of solar and wind generation with 2.2 GW of electrolyser
capacity, positioning it among the world's largest green hydrogen production
facilities.
