Pakistan keen to strengthen digital partnership with Saudi Arabia: State
Minister
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are set to enhance
their digital and economic partnership, focusing on innovation and investment
in key technology sectors, according to Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the State
Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication. She made these
remarks at the LEAP 2025 technology event in Riyadh.
The LEAP 2025 event, held under the theme “Into
New Worlds,” aims to expand business networking and investment opportunities in
the tech sector. During her speech, Shaza Fatima emphasized the growing
collaboration between the two countries and Pakistan’s commitment to harnessing
technology for economic growth.
She shared that Pakistan’s IT exports have
risen by 28%, reaching $1.86 billion, reflecting the sector’s strong expansion.
Fatima also highlighted the Digital Nation Act 2025 as a transformative
initiative poised to reshape Pakistan’s digital economy.

The minister further announced that Islamabad
will soon host the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (DFDI) Forum, inviting
global investors to explore Pakistan's rapidly growing digital landscape. She
stressed Pakistan’s desire for a strong tech partnership under Saudi Vision
2030, urging Saudi investors to consider opportunities in fintech,
cybersecurity, and cloud computing.
“This is a golden opportunity for digital
investment and technological collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,”
Fatima said, emphasizing that Pakistan offers world-class digital services and
lucrative investment prospects.
She also noted that Pakistan is making its
largest-ever presence at LEAP 2025, with over 100 tech companies and 1,000
participants attending the event. “We’re not just signing MoUs; we’re securing
real economic growth through strategic agreements,” she added.
The minister credited the Digital Cooperation
Organization (DCO) as a vital partner in Pakistan's digital progress and
praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership in fostering an environment
conducive to digital growth and foreign investment.

Shaza Fatima also acknowledged the significant
role played by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in improving
Pakistan's investment landscape. She emphasized that SIFC’s efforts have
simplified business processes and attracted international investors.
The Pakistan-Saudi Business Forum at LEAP 2025
featured key participation from DCO Secretary General Deemah AlYahya, senior
Saudi government officials, and a large delegation of Pakistani and Saudi
business leaders.
As Pakistan continues to
position itself as a key player in the global digital economy, the minister
reaffirmed the country’s commitment to fostering innovation, expanding its IT sector,
and strengthening international partnerships.
