Red Sea Global to train stakeholders in health and
safety
Red Sea Global (RSG) has officially launched its first Health and Safety
Training Academy, following a successful pilot phase that saw 1,000 workers
trained. The academy provides free training for RSG’s workforce, partners, and
contractors, focusing on developing critical construction skills and safety
expertise.
The training programs adhere to the highest international standards, with
certifications from recognized organizations such as Highfield, IOSH, and
NEBOSH. John Dunne, Group Head of Health and Safety at RSG, emphasized that the
academy aims to set a new benchmark for health and safety training in Saudi
Arabia and beyond, saying, “By ensuring exemplary safety protocols across all
of RSG's developments, the academy strives to be the gold standard in health
and safety education.”

A key achievement for RSG was receiving IOSH accreditation, marking a major
milestone in its commitment to safety excellence. RSG is now an approved
provider of the IOSH Working Safely course, available in both English and
Hindi. This accreditation allows RSG to deliver vital safety training to its
workforce and partners, empowering them with the knowledge to prevent workplace
accidents.
The academy’s approach is unique in that it emphasizes practical,
construction-themed training—a first for Saudi Arabia. Unlike traditional
classroom instruction, the academy uses vivid simulations to demonstrate the
real-world consequences of safety violations. It is equipped with modern
classrooms, outdoor training stations, and specialized safety areas to provide
a hands-on learning experience. Equipment like scaffolding, walking work
platforms, gantry cranes, confined space chambers, and CPR training stations
ensure trainees develop critical safety skills in real-world scenarios.
“We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment across
all our projects,” Dunne added. “This facility helps us achieve that by
offering practical training that builds a robust culture of safety.”

Another milestone for RSG is its ability to deliver IOSH Working Safety
Training in-house, having received an official license to do so in both English
and Hindi. This training focuses on hazard mitigation and instilling the
importance of safe work practices. The certification came after IOSH’s thorough
review of RSG’s safety standards and facilities, allowing RSG to conduct these
sessions internally instead of relying on third-party providers.
Last year, RSG reached remarkable safety achievements, including 10 million
hours worked without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) on Shura Island—set to open this
year—and 11 million hours worked without an LTI at Shebara Resort, which began
operations in October 2024.
