Pakistan focusing on Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to enhance workforce collaboration

In a recent session of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, it was revealed that Pakistan is placing a significant emphasis on aligning its workforce initiatives with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The objective is to strengthen collaboration with the Kingdom’s government and private sector in various developmental projects.

Chaired by Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, the committee received a comprehensive briefing on the implementation of a certified and licensed human resources strategy in Gulf countries.

Jawad Malik, the caretaker special assistant to the caretaker prime minister on overseas Pakistanis, addressed the demand for domestic workers in the UAE. He emphasized the ministry's efforts to reduce the age limit for women from 35 to 25 years and to amend conditions for married women. The goal is to remove barriers hindering skilled young women from traveling abroad, enabling them to tap into the growing demand for domestic workers.

The meeting highlighted that Gulf countries have been a prominent destination for Pakistani workers, with over 12.5 million emigrants heading to these countries for employment since 1971.

Senator Rukhsana Zuberi proposed the initiation of skill training programs for locals to meet the demand for skill-oriented jobs in Gulf countries.

 

Saudi Vision 2030: Pakistan offers to provide 1 million workers annually to Saudi Arabia

 

Senator Manzoor Kakar raised concerns about the illegal occupation of properties belonging to overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan. The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) shared that the ministry is working on establishing special courts for the prompt resolution of property disputes involving overseas Pakistanis. Special desks have also been set up at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Office to assist expatriates.

The committee directed the ministry to provide data on the relief availed by overseas Pakistanis since the inception of the special desk.
