Jawad Malik, the caretaker special assistant to the
caretaker prime minister on overseas Pakistanis, addressed the demand for
domestic workers in the UAE. He emphasized the ministry's efforts to reduce the
age limit for women from 35 to 25 years and to amend conditions for married
women. The goal is to remove barriers hindering skilled young women from
traveling abroad, enabling them to tap into the growing demand for domestic
workers.
The meeting highlighted that Gulf countries have been a
prominent destination for Pakistani workers, with over 12.5 million emigrants
heading to these countries for employment since 1971.
Senator Rukhsana Zuberi proposed the initiation of skill
training programs for locals to meet the demand for skill-oriented jobs in Gulf
countries.
