Saudi NEOM's investment in REGENT's electric seaglider
Viceroy to revolutionize transport
NEOM, the visionary smart region taking shape in Northwest
Saudi Arabia, has made a noteworthy investment in REGENT, a prominent US-based
electric seaglider manufacturer. This strategic partnership is poised to
revolutionize water transport within NEOM, delivering efficient connections to
various cities and locations across the region.
At the heart of this collaboration is REGENT's cutting-edge
creation, the Viceroy electric seaglider, tailored for NEOM's unique needs.
This innovative seaglider seamlessly combines the speed of an aircraft with the
practicality of a boat, offering three distinct modes of operation: hull,
hydrofoil, and ground effect flight. Notably, the Viceroy operates with
near-silent precision and produces zero carbon emissions, embodying an
eco-friendly transport alternative.

With a remarkable range of up to 160 nautical miles and
speeds reaching a swift 180 mph, the Viceroy can comfortably accommodate up to
12 passengers.
As part of this transformative partnership, REGENT will
establish a Middle East Research and Development and Training Hub, dedicated to
training seaglider operators and overseeing infrastructure and operational
readiness. Furthermore, NEOM's young engineering and tech graduates will gain
valuable work experience through placements at REGENT, contributing to on-site
testing efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth operational deployment by the
mid-part of this decade.
