The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) has unveiled a comprehensive guide to major astronomical phenomena expected to be visible from across Saudi Arabia through 2030, offering skywatchers, researchers, students and astronomy enthusiasts a detailed roadmap to upcoming events.

The initiative is aimed at promoting public engagement with science and space, encouraging interest in astronomy and supporting the development of astrotourism as part of the Kingdom’s broader objectives under Saudi Vision 2030.

The newly released astronomical guide provides forecasts and observation details for a range of celestial phenomena, including solar and lunar eclipses, annual meteor showers, planetary conjunctions and alignments, as well as solstices and equinoxes.

The guide is designed to help observers plan their viewing of major astronomical events by providing information on observation dates and times, along with recommended locations across the Kingdom.

The publication highlights Saudi Arabia’s varied landscapes and relatively low levels of light pollution as potential advantages for astronomical observation, particularly in remote desert and high-altitude areas.

Major Celestial Events Through 2030

Among the phenomena featured in the guide are several prominent events that will be visible from Saudi Arabia over the coming years.

Solar and lunar eclipses will feature among the major highlights, with the guide identifying dates and viewing conditions for total, partial and annular eclipses, as well as locations offering favorable observation opportunities.
