framework in place for how art takes shape in its streets, squares and public
spaces, as the Visual Arts
Commission unveils a national guide for public art projects across the
Kingdom.
Released in both full and condensed
editions, the guide sets out standards for planning, commissioning,
implementing and maintaining artworks in public spaces. It is designed to serve
government authorities, artists, cultural practitioners and members of the
public.

The full edition goes beyond broad
principles, offering practical guidance across the entire life cycle of a
public art project — from early planning and design to installation, management
and long-term maintenance.
At its core, the guide seeks to
bring greater consistency to a rapidly developing public art landscape. The
commission said it aims to raise awareness of public art, establish common
terminology and improve coordination between artistic, urban and cultural
planning.
The initiative also forms part of
Saudi Arabia’s wider push to develop its creative industries under Saudi Vision
2030. By strengthening professional practices and improving the quality of
public artworks, the commission hopes to create more engaging visual
environments and contribute to a better quality of life.
The move reflects the growing role
