AlUla has marked a major milestone in the development of its newest
cultural initiative with the official naming and vision unveiling of the AlUla
Contemporary Art Museum (CAM). The announcement was
made on 31
January during the opening of Arduna, the museum’s inaugural exhibition.
Located in north-west Saudi Arabia,
approximately 1,100 kilometres from Riyadh, AlUla is internationally recognised
for its striking natural landscapes and deep human history, including Hegra,
the Kingdom’s first UNESCO
World Heritage Site. Through Arts AlUla, the region continues to
position culture and creativity at the heart of its long-term development.
Conceived as a dynamic platform for
exhibitions, commissions, artist residencies, research, and publications, the
AlUla Contemporary Art Museum will connect the area’s rich heritage with
contemporary artistic practice. The institution aims to foster global dialogue
and international exchange, reflecting AlUla’s historic role as a cultural
crossroads.
