XCharge, Electromin to work together to set up EV infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

Global battery-integrated charging solutions provider XCharge has signed a strategic partnership with Electromin, Saudi Arabia’s largest EV charging network operator, to accelerate the rollout of next-generation charging infrastructure across the Kingdom. The collaboration marks another significant step in Saudi Arabia’s drive to meet its Vision 2030 sustainability and mobility targets.

Key Highlights

·         XCharge’s GridLink system delivers ultra-fast DC charging of nearly 200 kW with only 44 kW of grid input, easing pressure on constrained grid networks.

·         Vision 2030 targets 30% EV adoption in Riyadh by 2030, supported by rapid infrastructure expansion.

·         The Public Investment Fund (PIF) aims to install 5,000 fast chargers across 1,000 sites through its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIQ).

Ultra-Fast Charging With Minimal Grid Dependence

Central to the agreement is XCharge’s GridLink technology, designed to address the region’s longstanding infrastructure challenges. By requiring minimal grid power and allowing direct solar energy integration, the system is particularly suited to fuel stations, supermarkets and remote locations where conventional grid upgrades are costly or impractical.

GridLink is engineered for the Gulf’s harsh conditions, featuring liquid-cooled thermal management, automated ventilation, and built-in fire suppression to ensure safe operation in extreme temperatures.

“E-mobility is still in its early stages in Saudi Arabia, and Electromin is ahead of the curve,” said Mowafak AlSaadi, Electromin’s director of eMobility sales and marketing. “XCharge’s technology allows us to accelerate our rollout significantly while maintaining the highest safety and reliability standards.”

XCharge’s head of Europe, Albina Iljasov, added: “The Middle East is poised for massive e-mobility growth, and we are committed to enabling that transformation with technology that is a step ahead.”

Powering Vision 2030’s EV Transformation

Saudi Arabia’s push toward widespread EV adoption is gathering pace. Through EVIQ, the Public Investment Fund is spearheading the installation of thousands of fast chargers nationwide, ensuring coverage across key urban, suburban and highway locations.

Beyond infrastructure, the Kingdom is advancing a comprehensive EV ecosystem—supporting local manufacturing through brands such as Lucid Motors and Ceer, and investing in the electrification of fleets and public transport.
