Red Sea Global signs MoU with Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee to advance inclusive sports
Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind Saudi Arabia’s flagship tourism projects The Red Sea and AMAALA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee (SOPC) to promote inclusivity in sports and leisure across its destinations.
The agreement, signed at RSG’s
Riyadh headquarters, was attended by Nick King, Group Chief Development Officer
at RSG, and Bakr Darwish, SOPC’s Chief Shared Services and Solutions Officer.
The partnership focuses on creating accessible experiences for all visitors,
including individuals with disabilities, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision
2030 commitment to fostering an inclusive society.
“This agreement supports our aim to
develop truly inclusive, world-class destinations that excite and delight all
who visit,” said King. “By engaging with Saudi athletes and learning from their
feedback, we are committed to ensuring that our destinations are enjoyable and
accessible for everyone.”

The collaboration will draw on
insights from Saudi Paralympic athletes to guide infrastructure enhancements,
while also incorporating inclusive programming at both elite and community
levels. Special initiatives, including joint campaigns around international
events such as the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, are planned
to raise awareness and support long-term inclusivity goals.
Darwish highlighted the broader
national impact of the agreement: “Together with Red Sea Global, we aim to
ensure that every individual, regardless of physical or cognitive abilities,
can enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. This partnership strengthens
national inclusion efforts and reflects Team Saudi’s unity and ambition.”
The agreement will also utilize the
‘Team Saudi’ mobile app to deepen community engagement and promote year-round
activity. Red Sea Sports & Entertainment (RSSE), an RSG subsidiary
overseeing sports and recreational activities, will play a central role in
delivering these inclusive experiences through its brands WAMA, Akun, and
Galaxea.

The three-year MoU builds upon RSG’s
2023 pledge to make its destinations accessible to all. The Red Sea project,
which welcomed its first guests in 2023, now boasts five operational hotels and
aims to grow to 50 resorts offering 8,000 rooms across 22 islands and six
inland locations. Red Sea International Airport (RSI) enhances accessibility,
placing 85% of the global population within an eight-hour flight radius.
Meanwhile, the AMAALA development is
on track to welcome its first guests later this year, offering over 1,400 hotel
rooms across eight luxury resorts, with plans to expand to 4,000 rooms across
30 properties. The project will also feature luxury residences, wellness
centers, retail, and high-end dining options.
Both developments reflect RSG’s
commitment to building inclusive, sustainable destinations that support active
and healthy lifestyles for all.
