Red Sea
Global caters to disable divers
Red Sea Global has taken a significant step towards
inclusivity by certifying two of its diving centers to train scuba divers with
disabilities, marking a pioneering initiative in Saudi Arabia, as reported by
the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.
The Nujuma and Turtle Bay diving centers, located at the
Ritz-Carlton Reserve, have been awarded a five-star rating by the Professional
Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) for their proficiency in providing
diving experiences in challenging environments. This rating necessitates that
each center has instructors proficient in disability-adaptive techniques and
ensures wheelchair accessibility to all areas, including the diving zone and
any associated boats.

Instructors underwent comprehensive training encompassing
three days of theoretical and practical sessions conducted in both swimming
pools and open waters. This training involved simulating diving with restricted
mobility using mesh swimming gloves and a blacked-out mask to mimic visual impairment,
while also learning techniques to effectively guide divers with disabilities.
Rosanna Chopra, executive director of destination
development at Red Sea Global, emphasized the company's commitment to fostering
an inclusive diving environment. She highlighted that the centers'
infrastructure, logistics, communication methods, training programs, and safety
protocols have been meticulously tailored to accommodate divers of all
abilities, ensuring a welcoming and supportive experience for everyone involved.
