Solar Station Installations

Pagano noted that the installation of electroluminescent (EL) panels at the five solar stations has been completed. The project's complete independence from the national grid makes it both the largest and the first of its kind globally.

One of these solar stations is near the Six Senses Southern Dunes, the Red Sea Resort, and Spa, marking the first solar-powered resort to be inaugurated among the 16 hotels in the project's first phase. Two solar stations are located near the Desert Rock mountain resort and the Sheybarah Resort on Sheybarah Island. The remaining resorts and the 15 beach villas in Turtle Bay Village will be powered by two other larger-capacity solar stations.

Battery Storage and Grid Independence

Red Sea Global is also developing the world’s largest battery storage facility with a capacity of 1,200 MWh. This will enable the project to achieve 100% grid independence, aligning with the company's commitment to sustainability and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Sustainable Transportation and Human Capital Investment

All vehicles transporting visitors within the Red Sea Tourism Project will be powered by solar energy, from their arrival at the Red Sea International Airport to their movement between sites and nearby islands.

In addition, Red Sea Global is investing in human capital by providing vocational training scholarships to 500 individuals in partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund, with 50 people trained in renewable energy. The company aims to provide specialized training to a total of 10,000 Saudi citizens by 2030.
