NEOM's Topian company and Jazan City sign agreement to develop aquaculture
NEOM’s food division, Topian, has signed a SAR1.9bn ($507 million)
investment agreement with Jazan City for Primary and Manufacturing Industries
to develop a major aquaculture project. The deal was finalized during the Saudi
International Marine Exhibition in Riyadh on February 4, 2025.
Part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030, NEOM is
designed as an innovative, eco-friendly urban development aimed at reducing the
Kingdom’s reliance on oil.
This aquaculture project will have an annual production capacity of 10,000
tonnes and create 120 job opportunities. It is set to contribute to both local
and regional food security by meeting the growing demand for sustainable food
products.

producing 25,000 kilos of premium amberjack (Seriola dumerili) by 2025,

Jazan City for Primary and Manufacturing Industries seeks to position Saudi
Arabia as a regional hub for sustainable food manufacturing through the
adoption of cutting-edge technology and high environmental standards.
Topian has already made significant strides in developing high-tech
greenhouses and vertical farms in the past two years. It recently earned two
British Standard Institutions certifications for its Sustainable Food Supply
and ESG business unit, underscoring its commitment to sustainable food systems.
