Saudi Arabia: Diriyah and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to nurture Saudi talent
The Diriyah Company has entered into a strategic partnership
with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) through the signing of
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to enhance the training
and development of Saudi talent, focusing on knowledge transfer and expertise
across various professional fields within the built environment, adhering to
RICS standards.
The MoU, signed by Abdullah Al-Othman, Chief Human Capital
Officer at Diriyah Company, and Belinda Howell, Executive Director of
Regulation & Assurance Operations at RICS, is designed to support the
growth of Diriyah’s skilled workforce. The initial phase will focus on training
15 Saudis from the Diriyah Company team, with potential for expansion based on
organizational needs.

Comprehensive Training Program
The partnership will provide targeted training for Diriyah
Company employees, including young Saudi talent, mid-management professionals
(both Saudi and non-Saudi), and potentially senior staff. The training will
primarily take place in Riyadh through webinars and in-person sessions to
minimize business disruption, with opportunities for international training as
required.
Key collaboration areas include:
Cost and commercial management
Project management
Asset and facilities management
Real estate advisory
Procurement and tendering
These areas will emphasize essential business skills,
budgeting, and cost control. Additionally, professionals will receive guidance
on suitable RICS membership routes, from development plans to overseeing the
membership journey of young local talent.
Joint Working Team and Awareness Sessions
A joint working team comprising representatives from both
Diriyah Company and RICS will be established to oversee collaboration areas and
prepare progress reports. Awareness sessions will highlight the benefits of
RICS membership and the comprehensive courses covering RICS pathway
competencies. The MoU also includes a focus on building conservation and
collaboration on sustainability goals, ensuring effective management,
certification, and preservation of historic buildings.
