The Qiddiya Investment Company unveiled its first
environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report on World Environment Day
2024, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban development.
Qiddiya, a vast entertainment project under construction on
the outskirts of Riyadh, aims to become a beacon of sustainable urban
development. The ESG report outlines several initiatives designed to achieve
this vision.

Commitment to National and Global Goals
Abdullah Nasser Al-Dawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya
Investment Company, emphasized the project’s alignment with Saudi Vision 2030
and global sustainability initiatives, including the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). He stated that Qiddiya would be a “powerful advocate
and driver of the national aspirations set out in Saudi Vision 2030.”
Path to Net-Zero Carbon Emissions
- The report details Qiddiya’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. Key initiatives include:
- Treating 100% of wastewater.
- Reusing 90% of organic waste as fertilizer for green spaces.
- Providing charging stations for electric vehicles in 80% of parking lots by 2035.

Focus on Workforce and Inclusivity
Qiddiya’s ESG report also highlights efforts to prioritize
worker welfare, health, safety, and comfort. Emphasizing diversity and
inclusivity, the city aims to create over 325,000 job opportunities. By 2030,
women are expected to make up 40% of the workforce and hold 30% of leadership
positions, in line with national goals for female empowerment.
Accessibility and Community Engagement
To ensure inclusivity, Qiddiya plans to offer discounted
tickets to major entertainment venues and events for low-income visitors,
making the city’s attractions accessible to all.
Qiddiya's first ESG report underscores the company’s
dedication to sustainable development, worker welfare, and community
inclusivity, setting a new standard for urban projects in the region.
