Saudi Arabia: Construction starts at Neom’s Green Hydrogen Project  

Construction has officially commenced on NEOM's $8.4 billion green hydrogen plant, poised to become the world's largest. Located on NEOM's Oxagon, the plant aims to produce 600 tonnes of hydrogen daily for the futuristic city.

Wesam Al Ghamdi, CEO of NEOM Green Hydrogen Co., announced significant progress in the plant's construction. Situated on the floating port Oxagon, this project is a key component of Saudi Arabia's $1.5 trillion NEOM mega-project.

NEOM promises to be a unique tourist destination, offering more than just luxury hotels and fancy villas. It embodies Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's vision for a sustainable future, promoting a better way of living.

ACWA Power, in collaboration with Air Products, is developing the plant. According to a statement from ACWA Power, the plant's construction is progressing well and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, as reported by Luxury Launches.

Al Ghamdi highlighted recent advancements, including the procurement of initial supplies, ongoing installation work, and anticipated additional deliveries this year. With $8.4 billion in funding, the project aims to produce four million tonnes of clean hydrogen annually by 2030.

Upon completion, the plant will deliver 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily, sufficient to power approximately 20,000 hydrogen buses.
