Red Sea Global granted second water aerodrome license by GACA

Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind the luxury tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has received its second water aerodrome license from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

The new license, for the Shebara Resort, was officially awarded by GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej to RSG’s Group CEO, John Pagano, at The Red Sea destination.

Al-Duailej emphasized that this license is part of GACA’s broader aviation transformation program, which aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The initiative is designed to enhance competition and attract investment, fostering unprecedented growth in the aviation sector. The Saudi Aviation Strategy supports major projects like those of Red Sea Global by improving aviation infrastructure and connectivity while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

John Pagano noted that the license represents a crucial step toward the opening of Shebara Resort. “Soon, guests will be arriving by seaplane to this iconic resort, anticipating an unparalleled escape,” he said. “As the owners of the Kingdom’s first seaplane airline and its only two water aerodromes, we are solidifying our leadership in both tourism and aviation.”

Shebara Resort, located on Sheybarah Island, is set to open next month. RSG previously obtained Saudi Arabia’s first water aerodrome license for Ummahat Island.

In the first half of this year, RSG completed over 520 flights with more than 1,200 passengers using its Cessna aircraft. The company anticipates transporting 3,800 passengers by the end of 2024.
