Saudi Vision 2030 sees remarkable progress on 8th anniversary
87% of the initiatives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030 have
either been successfully completed or are progressing according to plan.
Out of the 1,064 initiatives launched as part of this
ambitious strategy, significant progress has been made, with the kingdom
witnessing notable improvements across various sectors. Last year alone saw
enhancements in visitor numbers, Umrah pilgrims, home ownership rates,
preservation of heritage sites, life expectancy, and healthcare coverage.

This year marks the 8th anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s Vision
2030, a transformative roadmap aimed at economic diversification and reducing
dependence on oil revenues. Despite the challenges, the SPA reaffirmed that
Vision 2030 remains firmly on track.
Key achievements highlighted in the program’s annual report
for 2023 include the kingdom welcoming 106 million visitors, including 27.4
million international tourists, making it the second fastest-growing tourism
destination globally. Additionally, the number of Umrah pilgrims from abroad
reached a record-breaking 13.56 million, surpassing the 2023 target and nearing
half of the 2030 goal.
Furthermore, the number of UNESCO-listed Saudi heritage
sites increased to seven, exceeding the 2023 target and nearing the 2030 goal
of eight. Healthcare coverage has also seen significant strides, with 96.4% of
the population now covered by health services, surpassing the target set for
last year.

In terms of housing, over 66,000 families in the kingdom
have received new residential units, with August alone witnessing the launch of
24,000 new homes. Homeownership rates among Saudi nationals have also shown
remarkable improvement, with 63.74% now owning their homes, surpassing the 2023
target of 63% and nearing the ultimate goal of 70%.
Moreover, life expectancy in the kingdom has risen to 78.1
years, exceeding the baseline and approaching the target of 80 years set by the
Vision. These accomplishments signify significant progress towards the
overarching goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
