Saudi Arabia
Renowned architecture firm Populous has revealed its
innovative design for the Qiddiya City Esports Arena, a cutting-edge facility
set to be the focal point of the Qiddiya City project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Aspiring to be the world’s first mixed-use gaming and esports district, the
arena aims to captivate audiences with its state-of-the-art features and
immersive technologies.
The arena stands out with an impressive total area of video
screens, making it the largest esports arena in terms of screen size.
Incorporating immersive 4D technologies, the venue promises to transport
visitors into captivating worlds, engaging their senses with sight, touch, and
even smell. Advanced audiovisual systems enhance the overall experience,
aligning seamlessly with the city’s “Play Life” ethos.

Populous has given the arena a distinctive architectural
identity, featuring six tapered volumes adorned with vibrant neon lights. This
unique structure, resembling a digital chandelier, takes center stage within
the seating bowl. Sightline studies were conducted to optimize viewing angles
in the main auditorium, and parametric design tools were used to strategically
position screens, delivering an immersive visual experience for all attendees.
The Qiddiya City Esports Arena is the initial step in a
grand vision. As part of the broader Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, Qiddiya City
aims to host four dedicated esports venues, anticipating millions of annual
visitors. The arena includes two concourses, providing seamless access to
various functional areas within the venue, including a centralized arcade with
breakout zones for gaming. Vibrant retail, entertainment, and food areas will
remain operational even on non-event days.

the United States and Mexico hosting matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Qiddiya City Esports Arena aims to redefine the gaming
and esports experience in Saudi Arabia, pushing boundaries with cutting-edge
technology and vibrant design. Promising captivating fantasy worlds and
unforgettable moments, it is poised to become a must-visit destination for
gaming enthusiasts and tourists alike.
