Saudi Arabia to reveal the world's inaugural E-sports
district
Saudi Arabia is poised to reveal the world's inaugural
E-sports district within the heart of Qiddiya City, marking a significant foray
into the burgeoning realm of esports. The district, an integral component of
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's support for the sector, is part of a
broader 'National Strategy' aimed at advancing esports through talent
development initiatives and targeted investments.
Qiddiya City's gaming and esports district will house four
state-of-the-art venues specifically designed to host major events, with the
goal of attracting an impressive 10 million visitors annually. The Saudi
leadership perceives the gaming and esports industry as experiencing rapid
growth and views it as a responsibility to bolster infrastructure, positioning
Qiddiya City as a global destination for living, learning, and competing in
gaming and esports.

This innovative city district is not only tailored for
esports professionals but also welcomes gaming enthusiasts of all ages and
skill levels. Spanning over 500,000 square meters, it allocates 100,000 square
meters for retail, dining, and entertainment, creating an immersive environment
where gamers can live, work, and play. Gaming-themed apartments and hotels
contribute to the holistic experience.
Qiddiya City aims to host up to 25 esports clubs from across
the globe and serve as the regional headquarters for over 30 leading video game
development companies. The district will feature four cutting-edge arenas,
boasting a total seating capacity of 73,000. One of these venues will showcase
the world's largest indoor LED screen within an esports arena, accommodating an
impressive 5,300 seats.
Aligned with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's (KSA) National
Strategy for Gaming and Esports, the Qiddiya City gaming and esports district
aspires to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for gaming and esports by the
