Umm Al-Oud Island's pristine waters in Makkah region attract tourists

Umm Al-Oud Island, a jewel of natural beauty, graces the Red Sea, specifically within Ras Mohaisen in the Makkah Region. This stunning island captivates visitors with its pristine white sandy beaches, lush variety of trees, and vibrant coral reefs.

Saudi Press Agency has documented the island's charm, showcasing its serene ambiance, immaculate coastlines, and delightful weather.

While this exotic island has garnered attention as a tourist destination, it beckons for further development and investment to fully realize its potential as one of the Makkah region's premier tourism destinations.

Tariq Abalkhail, spokesperson for the Saudi Geological Survey, described the island, known as "The Northern Umm Al-Gharaniq," as a coral island located 1.2 square kilometers northwest of Ras Mohaisen. Abalkhail noted that the island rises two meters above the sea surface and is covered in soft sands, dotted with scattered shrubs.

Mangrove trees adorn its coasts, particularly at the northernmost point of the coral barrier that surrounds the neighboring islands.

Saudi Arabia boasts numerous scattered islands along its coastlines, spanning three fronts, which positions the country as a leader among nations bordering the Red Sea in terms of total coastline length.
