Neom’s Oxagon to revolutionize global manufacturing industry
Oxagon, an
ambitious floating city in Saudi futuristic undertaking Neom, will bring a
revolution in the way global manufacturing industry works.
The project that came to surface in November 2021 will comprise 48 square kilometres of area across land and sea, with a diameter of 7km.
With a strong focus on clean manufacturing, Oxagon’s framework
will utilize a clean energy system to reduce waste and increase output by
swapping disposable for renewable.
Oxagon is looking to build
communities that are harmonized with nature. They will be designed for walkability or
powered by hydrogen transportation. Most communities will be waterfront and
they will be cooled and controlled using the ocean’s natural moderating effects.
The primary focus of Oxagon
will be on advanced and clean manufacturing – supported by a Research & Development
District, a next-generation port, and integrated supply chain and logistics
solutions.
Some big firms have already
set their foot in Oxagon including the hydrogen project between Air Products,
ACWA Power, and NEOM.
In addition, McLaren has signed up to be a founding tenant and technical partner in the Research & Development District.
