Madinah's development to create 125,000 direct and indirect jobs
Madinah is undergoing
a major investment and urban development surge, with 280 projects worth
an estimated SR200 billion currently under implementation, according
to a report by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce.
The ambitious development pipeline is expected to generate more
than 125,000 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the region’s labor
market while opening new opportunities for Saudi talent across a broad range of
industries.
Private-sector investment dominates the pipeline, accounting for 250
projects, while 20 are government-led and 10 are classified as
semi-government projects. The commercial sector is by far the largest
contributor, with 206 projects, representing nearly 80% of the
total.

Other projects span commercial residential development, healthcare,
housing and education, with 25, 11, 10 and eight projects respectively. The
pipeline also includes initiatives in religious services, tourism, public
facilities, corporate development, entertainment and agriculture.
The scale of the construction boom is equally striking. Major development
projects cover more than 30 million square metres, pointing to a
significant transformation in Madinah’s urban landscape and land-use patterns.
The expansion comes as the city prepares for rising numbers of pilgrims
and visitors, supporting Saudi Arabia’s ambition to welcome 30 million
visitors annually by 2030. New investments are expected to strengthen
infrastructure and public services while expanding the city’s capacity to serve
residents, tourists and Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The Chamber said the investment momentum reflects the impact of Saudi
Vision 2030 in positioning Madinah as a modern economic hub and a more
attractive destination for domestic and international investors.
With opportunities spanning construction, logistics, transportation,
trade, tourism, hospitality, catering and restaurants, Madinah’s development
pipeline is reshaping not only its skyline but also its role in the Kingdom’s
wider economic transformation.
