Oxford Business Group (OBG) has partnered with the Madinah Region Development Authority to publish a special report focusing on the sweeping socio-economic transformations taking place in Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. 

Titled Bright Horizons: Socio-Economic Transformation in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, the report highlights the region's dual commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage while embracing forward-thinking innovations, as it aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030.

The report explores how Al Madinah is driving progress through initiatives that enhance community well-being, promote economic diversification, and foster urban renewal. These efforts are in line with the national goals of Vision 2030, reinforcing Al Madinah's role as a key player in the Kingdom’s long-term development strategy.

Fahad Albulihshi, Mayor of Al Madinah, emphasized the crucial role the region plays in realizing Vision 2030. "Al Madinah is at the heart of the Pilgrim Experience and Quality of Life programs, and it contributes significantly to other key Vision 2030 initiatives. This ambitious national plan aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a diversified, knowledge-based economy, and Al Madinah is poised to play a central role in that transformation," he said.

Building a future through heritage and innovation

Büşra Karacadağ, OBG’s Country Director for Saudi Arabia, noted that while Al Madinah’s transformation is happening at an accelerated pace, it remains deeply attuned to its religious and cultural heritage. "The report provides an in-depth understanding of Al Madinah's evolving role in both the national and global economy. By combining its historical strengths with new engines of growth, the region is poised to thrive in the future. This reflects our ongoing commitment to documenting the stories of emerging markets," Karacadağ added.
