Saudi Arabia accelerating the development of tourism sector
Saudi Arabia has unveiled a national
Artificial Intelligence Tourism Vision aimed at accelerating the digital
transformation of the Kingdom's tourism sector through advanced AI technologies
and smart digital services.
Announced by the Ministry of
Tourism, the strategy introduces TourismX, a global digital platform designed
to serve as the sector's core digital infrastructure. The platform will provide
AI-powered tools for tourism operators, including hotel interior design, hotel
standard operating procedure generation, tour guide assistance, tour script
creation, and branding solutions.
The ministry has also launched the
beta version of the Saudi MT App, bringing together services for investors,
tourism businesses and tour guides on a single platform supported by an AI
assistant named Noura. In addition, the new MT Developer Portal will enable
developers to build tourism applications using the ministry's application
programming interfaces (APIs).

Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al
Khateeb said artificial intelligence is reshaping how destinations are
promoted, visitor experiences are designed and tourism services are managed. He
said the AI Tourism Vision aims to build a more innovative, efficient and
sustainable tourism sector.
The strategy builds on the Riyadh
Declaration on the Future of Tourism, adopted during the 26th UN Tourism
General Assembly, which called for greater adoption of emerging technologies
across the global tourism industry.
The initiative also follows a series
of digital innovations introduced by the ministry, including smart inspection
technology deployed during Hajj 2026 and a smart check-in system that improved
pilgrim reception and accommodation management.

The announcement comes as Saudi
Arabia's tourism sector continues to expand. According to the World Travel and
Tourism Council, the travel and tourism industry contributed 178 billion U.S.
dollars to the Kingdom's gross domestic product in 2025, marking a 7.4 percent
increase from the previous year and underscoring the sector's growing
contribution to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
