Saudi Arabia accelerating the development of tourism sector

Saudi Arabia has unveiled a national Artificial Intelligence Tourism Vision aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of the Kingdom's tourism sector through advanced AI technologies and smart digital services.

Announced by the Ministry of Tourism, the strategy introduces TourismX, a global digital platform designed to serve as the sector's core digital infrastructure. The platform will provide AI-powered tools for tourism operators, including hotel interior design, hotel standard operating procedure generation, tour guide assistance, tour script creation, and branding solutions.

The ministry has also launched the beta version of the Saudi MT App, bringing together services for investors, tourism businesses and tour guides on a single platform supported by an AI assistant named Noura. In addition, the new MT Developer Portal will enable developers to build tourism applications using the ministry's application programming interfaces (APIs).

Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb said artificial intelligence is reshaping how destinations are promoted, visitor experiences are designed and tourism services are managed. He said the AI Tourism Vision aims to build a more innovative, efficient and sustainable tourism sector.

The strategy builds on the Riyadh Declaration on the Future of Tourism, adopted during the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly, which called for greater adoption of emerging technologies across the global tourism industry.

The initiative also follows a series of digital innovations introduced by the ministry, including smart inspection technology deployed during Hajj 2026 and a smart check-in system that improved pilgrim reception and accommodation management.
