Saudi Port Authority to strengthen competitiveness of Saudi Arabia's maritime sector
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of a new shipping service, REDEX, operated by CMA CGM at Jeddah Islamic Port. The initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The newly introduced route will connect Jeddah
Islamic Port with four major regional and international ports: Malta Freeport, Port
Said Port, Port of Alexandria, and Port of Aqaba. The service has a carrying
capacity of 2,594 TEUs, enhancing cargo movement between the Kingdom and key
Mediterranean and regional trade hubs.
The REDEX service forms part of Mawani’s broader
strategy to expand logistics connectivity and streamline both international and
domestic trade flows. It also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics
Strategy, which aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub
connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.
