Diriyah CEO Jerry Inzerillo hails Saudi commitment to accomplish great things

$63 billion Diriyah project seamlessly blends heritage, hospitality, and luxury living

Birthplace of Saudi Kingdom to mark the Founding Day in a spectacular way

As Saudi Arabia prepares to celebrate Founding Day on February 22 and looks ahead to the 300th anniversary of the First Saudi State in 2027, few places capture the essence of the Kingdom’s journey like Diriyah.

From the historic mudbrick walls of At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage site marking the birthplace of the Kingdom, emerges a $63 billion giga-project that seamlessly blends heritage, hospitality, and luxury living. The project, which aims to become the world’s premier cultural and lifestyle destination, is being led by Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Company. He speaks with a deep sense of purpose about both the symbolism and the scale of the endeavor.

“Founding Day is our favorite day of the year,” Inzerillo shared with Arab News. “While we love National Day, Ramadan, and family time, Founding Day holds a special place. It marks the ancestral birthplace of the Kingdom and the home of Al-Saud. It’s the heart of our identity and pride.”

Diriyah is not merely an urban development; it’s a living testament to the nation’s rich history and a bold narrative of the future.

With the 300th anniversary of the First Saudi State fast approaching in 2027, the restoration and expansion of Diriyah are seen as acts of homage and a forward-looking vision for the next chapter of the Kingdom’s growth.

“Founding Day allows us to reflect on the past 300 years of our rich history,” Inzerillo explained. “It’s also a moment to look ahead, to think about the next 300 years.”

This vision of heritage intertwined with future ambition is at the core of the project. Every design element draws from Najdi architecture, the traditional mudbrick style of central Arabia. In keeping with historical authenticity, more than 20 million mud bricks have been handcrafted to mirror ancient construction methods.

“It’s a complex process,” Inzerillo acknowledged. “But authenticity is key. We’re not just building for speed; we’re building with quality, heritage, and deep respect for the past.”
