Six Flags Qiddiya City to become a leading lifestyle and entertainment destination in Saudi Arabia

Six Flags’ expansion into Saudi Arabia is expected to be a long-term success, according to a senior Qiddiya City executive, even as the brand continues to review and restructure its portfolio of parks in North America.

Six Flags Qiddiya City officially opened on December 31, 2025, marking the company’s first theme park outside North America. The opening represents a major milestone in the broader development of Qiddiya City as a leading lifestyle, entertainment, and resort destination in the Kingdom.

Speaking during the park’s grand opening livestream, Morgan Parker, vice chair of Qiddiya’s development and management committees, highlighted the social and economic significance of the project. He described the park as an important step in expanding access to leisure and recreation for Saudi citizens.

Parker emphasised that the development is designed to meet long-standing local demand rather than introduce something unfamiliar. He noted that Saudi Arabia’s population of nearly 30 million people is now gaining access to entertainment and lifestyle experiences that have been common in other parts of the world for decades.

Beyond entertainment, Parker pointed to the employment impact of Six Flags Qiddiya City. Thousands of jobs have been created, particularly for young Saudis, in sectors such as hospitality and entertainment. He described these roles as resilient to automation and artificial intelligence, offering sustainable career pathways in a rapidly changing global economy.

His comments come at a time when Six Flags’ North American operations are undergoing evaluation. Following the company’s merger with Cedar Fair in 2024, executives have indicated that additional parks in the United States and Canada could be sold or closed as part of a broader review of its portfolio, which includes more than 50 properties.

Despite these changes, Six Flags Qiddiya City is positioned as a flagship project. One of its main attractions is Falcons Flight, officially recognised as the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster. The ride has drawn global attention from theme park enthusiasts and is part of a lineup of 26 attractions at the park, several of which set new world records.

With its scale, record-breaking rides, and focus on long-term employment and community impact, Six Flags Qiddiya City is being presented as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s growing entertainment sector and a key driver in the future development of Qiddiya City.
