InterContinental The Red Sea to offer unmatchable luxury experience

InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, located on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, has officially joined Virtuoso — an exclusive global network of over 2,500 luxury travel providers across more than 100 countries.

Slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2025, the 210-key resort is one of several high-end properties in Saudi Arabia to become part of the Virtuoso portfolio, alongside Banyan Tree AlUla and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

Positioned at the heart of the country’s ambitious regenerative tourism project, the resort blends sustainable design and electric mobility with immersive wellness and culinary experiences.

By joining Virtuoso, the resort gains access to a global community of elite travel advisors spanning the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean. Guests booking through these advisors will benefit from exclusive perks and personalised service.

In a LinkedIn post announcing the partnership, IHG said:

“With Virtuoso’s global reach and reputation for excellence, this partnership opens new opportunities to connect with discerning travellers seeking elevated experiences, bespoke service and meaningful luxury.”

The resort offers 178 rooms and 32 suites, many with sweeping views of coral reefs and mangroves. The architecture embraces fluid, curved designs that echo the natural surroundings, enhanced by curated artworks from Saudi artists.

Guests will find five dining venues serving diverse cuisines — from Levantine and Moroccan to bold South American flavours — along with an outdoor pool, private beach, spa, fitness centre, and a Planet Trekkers Club for children. Experiences include snorkelling and diving on the world’s fourth-largest coral reef, as well as sailing, paddle-boarding, biking, and more.

About Shura Island

Designed by Foster + Partners under the visionary Coral Bloom concept, the dolphin-shaped Shura Island is central to The Red Sea’s tourism strategy. Once complete, it will host 11 luxury resorts, branded residences, a yacht marina, retail and dining villages, wellness centres, and Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course.

Confirmed hospitality brands on the island include Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles, and Rosewood.
