Red Sea Global officially launches Shura
Island: First three resorts to welcome guests soon
Red Sea Global (RSG) has officially launched Shura Island, the flagship destination at the heart of The Red Sea project. In a major milestone, the first three luxury resorts— SLS Red Sea, The Red Sea EDITION, and InterContinental The Red Sea Resort—will open to guests in the coming weeks, alongside the launch of Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course.
“As the heart of The Red Sea, Shura Island represents everything Red Sea Global stands for: bold ambition, deep respect for nature, and a commitment to redefining tourism in Saudi Arabia and beyond,” said John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global. “With the soft opening of Shura, we move closer to achieving our mission of setting new standards in regenerative tourism, while realizing Vision 2030.”
An unparalleled destination
Once complete, Shura Island will be home to 11 world-class resorts, set to open in phases over the coming months. These include internationally renowned hospitality brands such as Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles, and Rosewood.

Surrounded by turquoise lagoons and untouched beaches, the island will offer a blend of natural beauty, luxury, and cultural richness. Guests can arrive via boat to the island’s marina or cross the 3.3-km Shura Bridge—the longest internal bridge in Saudi Arabia—using electric vehicles.
The first resorts to open
SLS Red Sea: Offering 150 rooms and villas, including beachfront and overwater options, SLS blends its iconic style with curated wellness, cultural, and leisure experiences.
The Red Sea EDITION: A modern island retreat with 240 rooms (including 53 suites), a world-class spa, diverse dining options, and access to water sports and golf.
InterContinental The Red Sea Resort: A five-star barefoot luxury resort featuring 178 rooms and 32 suites, five dining venues, a spa, and coral reef-inspired architecture.
Sustainability at the core
Like the rest of The Red Sea destination, Shura Island is fully powered by renewable energy and designed to minimize its environmental impact while maximizing energy efficiency. The resorts and infrastructure are built in harmony with the island’s natural landscapes.

Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course: Shura Links
Opening this September, Shura Links sets a new standard in sustainable golf. This 18-hole championship course combines challenging play with spectacular ocean views and integrates eco-friendly water and land management practices. It’s accessible to guests across all resorts and residential areas within The Red Sea destination.
Residential opportunities
Shura Island is also home to an exclusive collection of private residences. The first properties were announced earlier this year and are expected to be ready for handover by the end of 2025. Residents will enjoy direct access to the island’s luxury amenities and pristine beaches, along with seamless connectivity to the broader Red Sea destination.
Red Sea International Airport: A growing gateway
Red Sea International Airport (RSI) is already operational, with regular domestic and international flights. Starting next month, Qatar Airways will operate direct flights to RSI three times a week, with more routes to be announced soon. Located within three hours of 250 million people, and within eight hours for 85% of the world’s population, RSI is a critical gateway to the region.
