China's ZTT to set up plant in Saudi Arabia to manufacture submarine cables
In a strategic move to expand its presence in
the Middle East and support regional infrastructure growth, ZTT Submarine Cable
& System, a leading Chinese subsea cable manufacturer, has announced plans
to establish a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
The company said the new facility will enhance
local industrial capabilities, accelerate response times, and offer tailored
solutions for the Saudi and broader Middle Eastern markets. The initiative also
aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes industrial diversification and
sustainable development.
“This investment reflects our confidence in the market’s potential and supports Saudi Arabia’s transition toward green energy infrastructure,” ZTT stated. “Localized manufacturing will allow us to build closer relationships with customers and deliver more efficient, customized services.”

ZTT’s decision marks a significant step in its
global growth strategy, aiming to contribute directly to the region’s energy
transition and infrastructure development, particularly in sectors like
offshore wind and power grid modernization.
Earlier this month, ZTT also launched construction of a next-generation cable laying vessel (CLV) to support offshore wind farms, island interconnections, and grid expansion projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The advanced CLV will measure 139.8 meters in
length, with a 38-meter beam, and feature diesel-electric propulsion, DP2
dynamic positioning, dual-launch channels, large coaxial turntables, and a
helicopter landing platform — designed to meet the growing demands of renewable
energy projects.
With its expansion into Saudi Arabia, ZTT is positioning itself as a key enabler of sustainable infrastructure development in one of the world’s most dynamic energy markets.
