LG emphasizes local manufacturing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

LG increasing manufacturing in Saudi Arabia

LG Electronics, a global leader in technology and electronics, has transferred its state-of-the-art Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) production technology to its LG-Shaker factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This significant move ushers in a new era in the Saudi market, introducing an innovative solution that enhances energy efficiency and caters to the evolving needs of modern infrastructure. The integration of VRF technology aligns seamlessly with Saudi Vision 2030, a strategic framework aimed at developing various public service sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.

The LG-Shaker factory will primarily focus on manufacturing the LG Multi V5, which features VRF technology. The Multi V5 is a sought-after product in the regional market, particularly due to its alignment with the Kingdom's local industry. Designed to provide user-friendly air conditioning by sensing temperature and humidity simultaneously, the Multi V5 boasts superior efficiency, thanks to its innovative compressor with oil level sensor and heat-exchanger. It is widely used in high-rise buildings, hospitality establishments, and mega projects, offering reliable performance, energy-saving features, and space efficiency. Noteworthy features include the ability to connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit, long piping length, and suitability for high elevation design, as well as reduced installation space and operation costs due to partial load operation logic.

Saudi Arabia is highly suitable as a global hub for electronics manufacturing: Alat CEO

Established in 2008 through a partnership between LG Electronics and Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Co. (Shaker), Saudi Arabia's leading importer, manufacturer, and distributor of air conditioners and home appliances, the manufacturing facility serves as a pivotal hub for AC production. These locally manufactured ACs are exported to 30 countries worldwide, making it one of 11 global factories producing high-quality LG air conditioners. Not only has the factory introduced VRF air conditioning manufacturing, but it has also continually expanded its production lines, underscoring LG's commitment to the region's development and bolstering the local manufacturing sector. This initiative enhances LG's supply chain control and reinforces its ability to serve customers and communities in the region more effectively.

The LG-Shaker factory incorporates cutting-edge automation technology, utilizing industrial robots and artificial intelligence to increase output and automation. This approach enables the production of locally sourced components, enhances manufacturing capabilities, and reduces production costs. Moreover, the factory's enhanced competitiveness in the Saudi AC market has led to partnerships with mega projects across the kingdom, including commercial developments, schools, and convention centers. Notably, LG will supply the Multi V5 HVAC system to Mecca's Mina project, delivering 7500 tons of air conditioning to the holy camp sites by April, underscoring Saudi's factory production capability and commitment to supporting significant infrastructure projects with advanced cooling solutions.
