Oman’s endurance rider qualifies for 2026 FEI Endurance World Championship in AlUla

Oman’s endurance rider, Sayyid Ali Ghalib al Said, has officially qualified for the 2026 FEI Endurance World Championship finals, to be held in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. This comes after his successful completion of the prestigious 160km Buchen International Endurance Race in Germany.

Sanctioned by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the race served as a key qualifying event and a demanding test for elite riders worldwide. This marks the second time HH Sayyid Ali has earned a place at the World Endurance Championship finals, further establishing his stature on the global endurance riding stage.

Riding his horse Attila, HH Sayyid Ali completed the challenging six-phase 160km course — broken down into segments of 35 km, 25 km, 35 km, 25 km, 20 km, and 20 km — in 10 hours, 23 minutes, and 20 seconds. Starting at 5:30 AM and concluding around 7:20 PM, the race took place under tough weather conditions, with temperatures peaking at 31°C, requiring advanced endurance strategy, heat management, and exceptional horsemanship.

The event drew elite competitors from nine different countries, highlighting the high level of international competition.

This achievement follows an intensive multi-week training camp focused on both the physical and technical preparation of rider and horse. The comprehensive conditioning program played a key role in HH Sayyid Ali’s ability to excel in one of the season’s most demanding endurance events.

HH Sayyid Ali dedicated this accomplishment to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, acknowledging their continued support and encouragement for equestrian sports in Oman.

In remarks following the race, HH Sayyid Ali expressed heartfelt gratitude to the race organizers, veterinary and technical teams, and all who contributed to his journey. He reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing preparations and his determination to represent the Sultanate of Oman with pride and excellence at the 2026 FEI Endurance World Championship finals.
