Alex Dunne joins NEOM McLaren
Formula E as reserve and development driver
NEOM McLaren has officially announced
Alex Dunne as its reserve and development driver for the 2025 Formula E season.
This marks a significant milestone for the young Irish talent, who steps into
the role previously held by Taylor Barnard, now promoted to McLaren’s race
lineup after an impressive rookie season.
Dunne’s New Role and Ambitions
Dunne's appointment is part of
McLaren’s Driver Development Program, which focuses on nurturing emerging
motorsport talent. He follows in the footsteps of notable juniors such as Ugo
Ugochukwu, Bianca Bustamante, and Ella Lloyd, who have all gained valuable
experience with McLaren’s Formula E team through test sessions, including
rookie and all-female events.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the NEOM
McLaren Formula E Team as reserve and development driver,” Dunne shared. “This

Competed in FIA Formula 3, finishing with a podium and 14th in the
championship.

Finished as runner-up in the GB3 Championship with three race wins.

Dominated the British Formula 4 Championship with 11 wins, took second in
the Italian F4 Championship with three victories, and secured two wins in
the UAE F4 Championship.
