Saudi Health Ministry unveils Health Clusters across the country

Saudi Health Ministry sets up health clusters in every region of kingdom

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia has announced the successful completion of the initial phase of its transformation, marked by the introduction of health clusters in every region of the Kingdom. This milestone is a pivotal component of the Health Sector Transformation Program, designed to advance the healthcare system and elevate the quality of care and services, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The transformative initiative involves the reorganization of the Kingdom's health sector, reinforcing its capabilities and effectiveness, and contributing to heightened satisfaction among beneficiaries by improving their experience in accessing healthcare services.

Following Cabinet Decision No. 469 dated 19/08/1443 Hijri, which sanctioned the establishment of the Saudi Health Holding Company, the Health Holding Company will manage healthcare-related operations through health clusters across diverse regions, while the Ministry of Health will regulate and supervise both public and private healthcare institutions.

The launch of these health clusters is designed to streamline the healthcare journey for beneficiaries, ensuring seamless transitions from primary care centers to appropriate hospital referrals based on the patient's condition and needs.

Under the new model, all hospitals and primary care centers throughout the Kingdom will undergo transformation into health clusters, with each cluster serving approximately one million people. Each cluster will encompass primary care centers, public hospitals, and specialized services, offering an integrated administrative organization to enhance service flexibility, responsiveness, and overall satisfaction.

The health clusters will assume responsibility for the well-being of the population in their respective areas, incorporating continuous monitoring, early periodic examinations, and collaboration with other entities to foster a healthier community environment.

The ministry's introduction of health clusters aims to enhance access to healthcare services and facilitate smoother transitions between different levels of care. The clusters will focus on implementing transformative programs to improve community health and prevention, including initiatives such as community health promotion, disease prevention and early detection, development of primary healthcare through programs like "Doctor for Every Family," management of chronic diseases, expansion of critical care services for rapid response to cardiac and brain issues, and the advancement of digital health and virtual medical care services.
