Saudi Arabia, Japan to enhance cooperation in diverse areas

The seventh ministerial meeting of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030 took place in Riyadh on Monday, aiming to enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations across diverse sectors.

Chaired jointly by Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ken Saito, and Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoichi Fukazawa, the meeting gathered officials from both countries and representatives from various government sectors.

Minister Al-Falih emphasized the significance of the meeting as the inaugural ministerial session following the launch of the second chapter of the vision's journey by the leaders of both countries—Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida—in July in Riyadh.

The meeting's agenda included a review of sub-group activities within the joint vision, focusing on fostering new and sustainable areas of collaboration. Minister Al-Falih highlighted the instrumental role played by the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030 since its initiation in 2016, attributing the expansion of the bilateral partnership to the efforts of various subgroups working in areas of mutual interest.

The session concluded with the signing of minutes, encompassing numerous joint initiatives and work programs.

Simultaneously, the Saudi-Japanese Investment Forum convened with over 400 participants from the public and private sectors of both nations. The event witnessed the signing of 13 agreements and memorandums of understanding, covering sectors such as water, financial services, communications, information technology, energy, and healthcare. Additionally, major projects in construction technology, tourism, and entertainment were announced.
