Saudi Arabia
In a groundbreaking development, stadium specialist Populous
has revealed concept images of its revolutionary esports arena situated in
Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia.
Designed as part of Qiddiya City's gaming and esports
district, the Populous-crafted esports arena promises to boast the largest
array of video screens in the world, coupled with innovative 4D haptic seats.
With a seating capacity of 5,155, the arena is engineered
for versatility, adapting seamlessly to various experiences and events.
Populous conducted meticulous sightline studies to ensure optimal views within
the main auditorium.

Parametric design tools were employed to refine screen
placements, with a groundbreaking 'digital chandelier' positioned at the
arena's center, enhancing the overall visual experience.
The facility is conceived as a fantastical realm, featuring
a gaming arcade, a vibrant food 'souk,' and a retail and immersive
entertainment zone.
Rhys Courtney, Senior Principal at Populous EMEA, expressed
pride in combining extensive knowledge of esports facilities with Qiddiya's
vision, resulting in a world-leading arena that caters to both competitors and
fans. Shireen Hamdan, Senior Principal and General Manager of Populous KSA,
described the arena as a "state-of-the-art esports venue" serving as
the centerpiece for the global gaming hub.

Populous, renowned for designing cutting-edge esports venues
like Esports Stadium Arlington, Fortress Melbourne, and the NBA 2K League
Broadcast Arena, aims to deliver an unparalleled user experience at Qiddiya.
A 2022 research collaboration between Populous and YouGov
indicated that up to 29 percent of the Saudi national population has a keen
interest in esports.
Qiddiya's gaming district, spanning 500,000 square meters,
will feature four esports venues alongside retail, dining, and entertainment
offerings. With a combined seating capacity of 73,000, the district aspires to
attract up to 10 million visits annually, solidifying its position as a global
gaming destination.
