Hedda Hosås to join NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team for the Season 3 finale in Chile

Hedda Hosås is set to join the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team for the Season 3 finale in Chile, replacing Emma Gilmour for the upcoming Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix.

Gilmour, still recovering from an incident at Island X Prix II in September, regrettably won't be fit in time for the Copper X Prix, and the entire Extreme E community wishes her a swift recovery.

Hosås, who made her mark since her debut at the Desert X Prix in NEOM, Saudi Arabia, in 2022, will step in for Gilmour at the Extreme E Season 3 finale. Initially joining the series as a reserve driver for Veloce Racing, Hosås took on the role of Championship Driver in 2022, making her Extreme E debut for Veloce Racing after a crash in Qualifying by Christine GZ. Throughout the 2022 season, she raced for Jenson Button’s JBXE squad, achieving a podium finish at the NEOM Island X Prix I.

In the current season, racing alongside Heikki Kovalainen and Andreas Bakkerud for JBXE, Hosås has participated in the previous four events of 2023, with her best finish being fifth. Expressing her excitement, Hedda Hosås stated, “I’m looking forward to competing for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team in Chile next week. I’m sending all my best wishes to Emma for a speedy recovery and hope I can do her and the whole team proud.”

Emma Gilmour, expressing her situation, commented, “Following my incident in Sardinia in September, I’ve had to take the difficult decision to not compete in the final round of the 2023 Extreme E season in Chile next week. I have been making good progress with my recovery, but do not feel well enough to compete yet. I’m confident that Hedda will do a good job to help bring the team some well-deserved success."

Throughout her time in Extreme E, Hedda has proven herself to be a strong competitor in the championship, and I am confident she can help the team achieve success to round off our second season in Extreme E.”

Hedda Hosås’ debut for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team will be broadcast live on ITV and STV in the UK, while viewers outside the UK can find broadcaster details on the official website. The series heads to the Atacama Desert in Chile, with five teams still in contention for the 2023 Extreme E championship.
