Red Sea Global celebrates inaugural flight to Red Sea International
Airport
On September 20, the Red Sea project, Saudi Arabia's flagship
regenerative tourism destination, achieved a significant milestone with the
arrival of its first flight at the newly inaugurated Red Sea International
Airport, designated with the code RSI. Saudia Airlines operated this historic
flight, originating from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh,
with the journey taking less than two hours.
John Pagano, the Group CEO of Red Sea Global (RSG), the multi-project
developer behind The Red Sea and Amaala, expressed the significance of this
event, highlighting the project's vision of welcoming people from around the
world to experience the best of Saudi culture, hospitality, and nature. With
the arrival of the first flight and the commencement of bookings at the
project's first resorts, The Red Sea's place on the global tourism map is
steadily becoming more prominent.
Red Sea Global's executive leadership, including John Pagano and group
chief sustainability officer Raed AlBasseet, were among the passengers on this
historic journey.
This inaugural flight, bearing the designation SV1571, signifies the
launch of a new twice-weekly service, with return flights to Riyadh on the same
day. Departing from RUH, these flights take place each Thursday at 10:50 am,
returning to RSI at 01:35 pm. A second service is scheduled for every Saturday,
departing RUH at 12:50 pm, with the return flight to RUH departing at 15:35 pm.
The operation of Red Sea International Airport falls under the management
of daa International, which has been actively involved with Red Sea Global
since 2020, providing support in design validation and commissioning for RSI.
With the successful arrival of RSI's first commercial flight, daa
International's operational responsibilities have officially commenced.
On the same momentous day, Red Sea Global unveiled the new brand for RSI,
which will be prominently featured throughout the airport terminal, on staff
uniforms, and on electric mobility vehicles responsible for transporting
passengers between air and land sides.
RSI, known as the gateway to The Red Sea destination, serves as visitors'
first impression and parting memory when they depart. The brand embodies the
five-star hospitality and experiences that guests can anticipate throughout the
entire destination. The brand icon is a representation of the unique
architecture of Red Sea International Airport, capturing the airport's exterior
from a bird's eye perspective. It conveys the brand's contemporary and distinct
qualities, emphasizing creativity, innovation, and sophistication.
