Saudi Arabia: AlUla offers diverse experiences during Ramadan

AlUla Governorate is marking the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan with a rich array of tourism offerings that celebrate its unique character and deep-rooted cultural heritage, further cementing its status as one of Saudi Arabia’s most sought-after destinations during the sacred season.

Throughout Ramadan, visitors can enjoy a comprehensive mix of experiences tailored to diverse interests, including guided stargazing sessions, cultural events and vibrant night markets, alongside traditional Iftar and Suhoor dining. Together, these activities highlight the essence of AlUla’s heritage and local identity.

The Ramadan programme features a number of signature events, such as special Ramadan experiences at Maraya Hall, a cultural market and live performances set against the backdrop of Ashar Valley. Heritage tours through AlUla Old Town invite visitors to explore local stories and Ramadan traditions, including the award-winning Incense Road Experience, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Seasonal art exhibitions are also part of the programme, hosted across several cultural venues, including Design Space AlUla, the fourth edition of Desert X AlUla, and the Arduna exhibition at AlUla Oasis. Additional offerings blend art, nature and astronomy, such as stargazing experiences at Daimumah Oasis in collaboration with AlUla Manara.

Visitors can further explore AlUla’s renowned archaeological landmarks, including Hegra, Dadan and Jabal Ikmah, home to ancient sites dating back centuries BCE and distinctive rock inscriptions. Adventure seekers can choose from experiences such as dinner and stargazing in Sharaan, hot-air balloon rides, mountain hiking trails and safari tours.

These initiatives form part of ongoing efforts to enrich AlUla’s tourism landscape during Ramadan, offering varied experiences that meet visitor expectations while highlighting the governorate’s natural beauty and cultural wealth.
