Saudi company recognized as qualified supplier of Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin and Middle East Propulsion Company have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to expand the localized production of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptor canisters in Saudi Arabia.

The agreement, announced in Riyadh, extends an existing localization contract and formally recognizes MEPC as a qualified supplier within Lockheed Martin’s global supply chain. It builds on progress achieved since 2022 and supports Saudi Arabia’s 2017 acquisition of the THAAD Weapon System.

The move aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by strengthening local manufacturing capabilities, advancing technology transfer, and contributing to the Kingdom’s defense industrial development.

Jason Reynolds, Vice President of Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin, said the agreement will increase localized production of THAAD canisters while expanding the company’s global supply base. He noted that rising global security challenges underscore the importance of proven air and missile defense systems, adding that the partnership supports regional security against ballistic missile threats while promoting technical knowledge transfer and sustaining jobs within the United States defense industrial base.
