Saudi Arabia: Timeline unveiled for Red Sea Global’s Amaala wellness destination

RSG has invested SAR 51.04 billion (US$13.6bn/€12.5bn/£10.4bn) in Amaala’s first phase

Saudi Arabia: Amaala wellness destination to open in early 2026

Red Sea Global (RSG) will hand over the first hotels at its ultra-luxury wellness destination Amaala in early 2026, senior director of wellness strategy Lindsay Madden-Nadeau confirmed during the Global Wellness Summit in Dubai.

Set along 4,155 sq km of pristine Saudi coastline, Amaala spans three areas — Triple Bay, The Island and The Coastal Development — and is designed to become one of the world’s most comprehensive wellness destinations.

“Saudi Arabia and Amaala will be a benchmark for health and wellbeing,” Madden-Nadeau said. “The masterplan was ambitious, and we had to unpack how to truly deliver on it. We’ve doubled the size of typical luxury spa spaces — some reach 8,000 to 10,000 sq m — and integrated nature into every element, from equestrian facilities and contemplation zones to hiking routes, fitness offerings and lavender fields.”

Triple Bay to lead first openings

Triple Bay will host the first six resorts, along with a yacht club, a marina, Corallium — a three-storey marine life institute — and a 5km linear “Wellness Route” connecting experiences across the destination.

RSG has invested SAR 51.04 billion (US$13.6bn/€12.5bn/£10.4bn) in Amaala’s first phase. Once complete, Amaala will comprise nine resorts with more than 1,600 keys, including branded and unbranded residences. The project is expected to generate up to 50,000 jobs and contribute SAR 11 billion (US$2.9bn/€2.7bn/£2.2bn) to Saudi Arabia’s GDP, supporting the goals of Vision 2030.

First six resorts

• Equinox Resort and Residences, Amaala
Featuring 128 guestrooms, 21 branded residences and a focus on high-performance wellness. Highlights include an open-air magnesium vitality pool, subterranean spa grotto, hyperbaric chambers, IV therapies, an Equinox Fitness Club and five dining venues.

• Four Seasons Resort and Residences, Amaala at Triple Bay
With 202 guestrooms and 25 residences, the property offers cascading water features, outdoor relaxation areas, six dining outlets, children’s facilities and a discovery centre.

• Rosewood Resort, Amaala
The 110-key, 26-residence resort is divided into zones — family, couples, and wellness — anchored by the Asaya Spa.

• Six Senses Amaala
Offering 100 guestrooms and 25 residences, the resort features a 3,000 sq m spa, biohacking programmes and visiting-practitioner wellness experiences.

The remaining three phase-one resorts — Clinique La Prairie Health Resort, Jayasom Wellness Resort and The Ritz-Carlton Resort — will open shortly after.

Further attractions

Corallium, Amaala’s marine-life attraction, will showcase Red Sea biodiversity through multi-level exhibits. The Amaala Yacht Club will open alongside, including a dedicated sailing academy.

Regenerative tourism focus

Amaala aims to deliver a 30% net conservation benefit to the local ecosystem by 2040. RSG plans to cap annual visitation at 500,000, operate entirely on renewable energy and eliminate 350,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.
