Construction is officially underway on the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, marking a defining moment for the entertainment megaproject just southwest of Riyadh. As of May 2025, this milestone positions Qiddiya as a cornerstone in Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a regional powerhouse for sports, culture, and entertainment.

A Landmark in Vision 2030

At the heart of this transformation is the 46,979-capacity multipurpose stadium—known as the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium or simply, Qiddiya Stadium. As part of the Qiddiya Investment Company’s ambitious master plan, the venue will serve as a central hub for local and international sports events, setting the stage for Qiddiya’s emergence as a global destination.

‘ArchUp’ reports that Qiddiya is currently undergoing a wave of massive developments, reinforcing its identity as a forward-thinking urban center aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Design with Purpose

Though full architectural details remain under wraps, early concepts emphasize sustainability and innovation. The stadium's design will be integrated into the dynamic landscape of Qiddiya, prioritizing fan experience while embracing cutting-edge technology and environmentally-conscious features.

Located atop the Tuwaiq Mountains at a height of 200 meters, the stadium’s location not only offers dramatic views but symbolizes the elevated aspirations of the entire Qiddiya project.

Key Role in the 2034 FIFA World Cup™

The stadium will also be one of the key venues for the 2034 FIFA World Cup™, for which Saudi Arabia was officially announced as host in December 2024. This will be the first World Cup hosted by a single nation since Qatar in 2022, and the third held in Asia.

The project is being executed by a consortium including FCC Construction (Spain), Nesma Holding, and Partners Contracting Company, with completion expected by 2029.
